Rumour persists this was produced by Marc Bolan.

Having looked at all my copies of 20th Century Boy, I
came across a copy that has a different Lacquer number.
I checked the length of the playing surface (sadly I no
longer have a record player) and it was decidedly longer
than the normal copies. If a flaw was found in the vinyl
pressing and could be traced back to the original
Lacquer an alternate Lacquer would be used. However
this Lacquer would produce an identical vinyl (minus the
flaw).
The vinyls I have are not identical !!!

[update of above]
Thanks to Bobby Haslett who has both versions (A1 & A2).
The A1 version has sound that lasts approx 3:27:99
The A2 version has sound that lasts approx 3:29:03
I would say that on reflection both tracks are identical.
Why the different Lacquer and groove spacing,
I just don't know, sorry.

The promo has the A1 lacquer

Interview Session with Marc Bolan promotional single

Side 1:- Marc interviewed by Nobuyuki Yoshinari

Side 2:- same as above

:Note:
This interview was recorded on the 5th December 1972.
The interview can be read on the fold-out insert that
came with the single (as long as you can read Japanese
that is LOL).

Its a full mixture of questions ranging from the names on
the new upcoming album which isn't Born To Boogie. To
his favourite guitarist, to his favourite singer. And the type
of guitar strings he uses. A full mix.

Some web sites and auction sellers call this label an error.

Tony and Marc would part company a month later.

5 - Painless Persuasion v. The Meathawk Immaculate - 3:23
6 - The Avengers (Superbad) - 4:29
7 - The Leopards Featuring Gardenia And The Mighty Slug - 3:35

Mainly recorded at Musicland Studios, Munich, Germany.
At least one track "Explosive Mouth" was recorded at
M.R.I. Hollywood.
Also "Teenage Dream" was recorded at AIR Studios, London.

Produced by Tony Visconti and Marc Bolan

Highest UK chart position: No. 12

:Note:
Marc had wanted this album to be called "A Creamed
Cage in August" by a group calling itself "Zinc Alloy and
the Hidden Riders of Tomorrow" but EMI got cold feet
at the last minute and insisted he use Marc Bolan & T. Rex

Two versions of the centre labels can be seen here.
I would hazzard a guess and say the 1st two pictures
were the earlier edition.

Side 2a - Hippy Gumbo - 1:54
Side 2b - The Perfumed Garden Of Gulliver Smith - 2:47

Produced by Simon Napier Bell

:NOTE:
The original singles were produced in 1972 to promote the album
"Hard On Love", which because of legal action, never came about.
The album finally saw light of day in the new guise of
"The Beginning Of Doves" some two years later.
So the original singles (double-sized gripper ridges and slim white
ring on each label) are actually two years older. The 1972 front
cover differs from the 1974 edition by means of a fluorescent
sticker saying “New Track Record Maxi”.

The 1974 "promo" of the single is identical to the standard
single with the exception of 3 white stickers.
One rectangular plain sticker on the back of the sleeve,
and one round printed sticker on each side of the single
covering all except the copyright info of the standard label
which is underneath.

The 23rd and 24th pictures are of a fake alternative promo
label which just covers the centre push-out. The "B" side
of this fake promo doesn't have a promo label.

Also notice the different sized type of TRACK RECORDS
on each side. My copies by pure chance have both
versions but some do have the larger type on both sides
and vice-versa some copies do have the smaller type on
both sides.

Thanks to Bobby Haslett for the 3 pushout sets opposite.

It is probable that this jukebox single shown opposite is a solid
centre with the middle drilled out. Quite a few actual Track
Record jukebox singles from 1972 have double-spaced ridges
and a worn away ring as seen in pictures 3 and 4 of this set.
